In 2013, BitWise Design was founded based on the following idea.
Tangible bits with some intuition. Dedicated to simple ideas and products. - Shop01, Shapeways
Shapeways' offering of 3D printed steel allowed for BitWise's first product, KeyBit, to be realized as a functional prototype overnight.
As the product took off on Shapeways, it was clear there was need for this product on the market, and if it was going to be in this many hands, it might as well get some polish along the way. With help of my friend, Taylor Sternberg, I was set with a video and had prepared everything I could before launching the Kickstarter. The support of the blogs and mac communities made the campaign a success, and I put the funds directly to use with local manufacturers who could produce quality products. Most importantly, scroll down to check out all of the amazing backers!
With great partners such as Swissturn, USA and Premier Source, KeyBit and KeyBit+ are able to be entirely manufactured in the United States. Swissturn's close proximity to New York meant I could visit the place where KeyBits were made with 3 hr car ride and make sure the product was to spec. A lot of great advice came from new friends at Studio Neat, and other local maker friends in NYC.

A bit wise... founder
just a bit :)
After a year or so of selling through different online retailers, and handling shipping mostly out of my apartment, I decided to make the move to Fulfillment by Amazon. In short, I get to control most of my packaging, and provide a tough to beat option of Amazon Prime shipping anywhere in the US. BitWise is still interested in business overseas, so please be in contact if interested. The most convenient method and best experience for the customer is what I am looking for and simply haven't found it yet for overseas.
None of this would be possible without the wonderful support of over 600 Kickstarter backers and countless friends support along the way.
